How to Make an Email Marketing Letter

An email marketing letter is a good marketing tool. You don’t want to send spam, but a sales letter that will be effective. You can write a marketing letter that will get your foot in the door and get your product sold. Email marketing letters are successful if handled properly.

An email sales letter sent to a target audience has advantages. You can target your prospects by their interest, age, profession and etc. According to Kenneth Roman, Jane Maas, and Martin Nisenholtz’s book, How to Advertise, (Thomas Dunne), “The joy of direct marketing is its accountability — you quickly know the exact results of an advertising investment.” With this type of marketing you have the advantage of tracking your response rate.

The Mailing List Is Important

Make sure that all of the subscribers on your mailing list have opted-in to receive email from you. If you have gained their email address by their permission or by signing up for your newsletter, or subscribing to receive updated information, and they have taken some kind of action to indicate they’d want to receive information from you, then go ahead and put them onto your emailing list, for what they agreed to. Your company must provide a way for recipients to unsubscribe to your email, so make it easy for them to opt-out from your email program.

Things to Think About When Drafting the Letter

The subject line: It is the first thing that the recipient sees. The subject line should contain something that will make the prospect read the email. You can use an offer, or offer a benefit here. The subject line has to be fifty characters or less, so get their attention.

Focus on Your Audience

One of the most important aspects of a marketing letter is the offer. What is the primary offer that you promise to deliver? Your offer can be free shipping, a bonus, save on a vacation, or a discount.

Use Visuals in Your Email

Add a graphic or a picture. This will make your email look better and add clarity to the benefit stated. The photos should have a caption.

A Call to Action at the End

You must tell the recipient what action to take, the next step in the buying cycle. Be direct on the email marketing letter, tell them to sign up for your newsletter, click here for a great deal on your product, or download your copy today. Always include a call to action in your email.

Making an email marketing letter is not hard and it is an effective marketing program.
